On local gamma factors for orthogonal groups and unitary groups

‎In this paper‎, ‎we find a relation between the proportionality factors which arise from the functional equations of two families of local Rankin-Selberg convolutions for‎ ‎irreducible admissible representations of orthogonal groups‎, ‎or unitary groups‎. ‎One family is that of local integrals of the doubling method‎, ‎and the other family is‎ ‎that of local integrals expressed in terms of sph...

Monomiality, Orthogonal and Pseudo-orthogonal Polynomials

We reconsider some families of orthogonal polynomials, within the framework of the so called monomiality principle. We show that the associated operational formalism allows the framing of the polynomial orthogonality using an algebraic point of view. Within such a framework, we introduce families of pseudo-orthogonal polynomials, namely polynomials, not orthogonal under the ordinary definition,...

Variations on Pseudo-Free Groups

The notion of the pseudo-free group was informally introduced by Hohenberger [Hoh03], and was formalized by Rivest [Riv04a]. Rivest showed that many cryptographic assumptions (e.g. the RSA assumption, the strong RSA assumption, the discrete logarithm problem and so on) hold in pseudo-free groups. In this paper, we point out the fact that in the definition by Rivest, many cryptographic assumptio...

Invariant Means on Chart Groups

The purpose of this paper is to give a stream-lined proof of the existence and uniqueness of a right-invariant mean on a CHART group. A CHART group is a slight generalisation of a compact topological group. The existence of an invariant mean on a CHART group can be used to prove Furstenberg’s fixed point theorem.

(∗)-groups and pseudo-bad groups

We give an example of an infinite simple Frobenius group G without involutions, with a trivial kernel and a nilpotent complement. Nevertheless, this group is not ωstable (not even superstable), this is the ”only” property missing in order to be a counterexample to the Cherlin-Zil’ber Conjecture which says that simple ωstable groups are algebraic groups.
